Louis Armstrong, the legendary ambassador of jazz, always claimed he was born on the Fourth of July—a fitting connection for a night that honors the spirit of independence. While records later showed he was actually born in August, Louis proudly celebrated the Fourth his entire life, making it part of his story and the spirit he shared with the world.
